SEIU Florida Members Endorse Richie Floyd in the St Petersburg City Council District 8 Race
ST PETERSBURG, FL — SEIU Florida, which represents more than 55,000 active and retired professionals statewide includes among its members workers in the City of St. Pete, Pinellas County School District, Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority, and St. Pete College Adjunct Faculty has announced the endorsement of Richie Floyd for St Petersburg City Council District 8.
Mr. Floyd has earned this endorsement based on his commitment to fight for working people and their families, as well as his proven experience engaging everyday people in the democratic process in our communities. Our members have spoken, and believe he represents the clear choice in St Petersburg City Council District 8 based on the following priorities:
Rights for workers and union members, including principled support of annual step raises that provide equal pay for equal work regardless of race, gender or age
Access to quality, affordable healthcare in our most impacted communities
Strengthening support and protections for healthcare heroes and essential workers
Supporting a minimum wage of at least $15 an hour
Affordable housing and ending discrimination against the use of housing vouchers
Ending the legacy of Jim Crow and increasing black ownership of local businesses
Protecting the environment and supporting resiliency initiatives across St Petersburg
